TwinMOS introduces a Mirror-Surfaced USB flash Drive

TwinMOS Mobile Disk P1

I’ve carried many USB drives over the last few years. My first was a very boring 128MB Memorex stick. They didn’t really make them fancy back then, it was cool enough to be carrying one at all. Like the rest of my flash drives, it was likely lost or broken. Needless to say, I’ve seen a lot of them. I’m not really sure why, but Mobile Disk P1 from TwinMOS really caught my eye.

I suppose that it’s human nature to be drawn to things that are shiny. I can’t really explain it, but if… Continue Reading»

Epson Introduces $149 Stylus CX9400Fax All-In-One

CX9400Fax.jpgToday Epson rolled out its entry level line of printers with a few surprises: the $149 CX9400Fax, a super-valued all-in-one with a truly functional fax, a fast-as-hell $90 printer called the Stylus C120, and two more multifunctions (without fax), the $70 CX7400 and the $100 CX8400.

All-in-ones are plummeting in price. I remember when you couldn’t get anything decent for under $300, right about the time when fax features started vanishing, so it was crazy when Epson described the Stylus CX9400Fax—including the all-important auto document feeder for multi-page faxes—priced at $149. It’s not the… Continue Reading»

NES controller now controls cursor

nes-controller-mouse.jpg

What a change for the once-mighty NES controller, where it used to control Mario and Samus who saved their respective worlds, all the controller does now is control the cursor on your computer display (not to mention accelerating your path towards RSI due to its obviously unergonomic nature). This DIY project replaces the innards of a NES controller with that of an optical mouse, so you’ll have to invest a fair bit and have a decent amount of technical know-how before embarking upon this project. Definitely one of the fanboys.

Keyspan Media Center Remote

keyspan_remote.jpg

Vista users take note, the Keyspan Remote may be of interest to you if you’re looking to do the whole media PC in the living room thing. This new remote designed specifically for Windows Vista works up to 90 feet away from the machine, and all you have to do is plug that little USB doo-hickey (that’s a technical term…you might not understand) into your machine.

The remote is so powerful, in fact, that it can even see through walls, so finding some kind of out of the way closet or enclosed space to hide… Continue Reading»

Sole Mio Concept Mouse Recharges via Sunlight

solemio.jpgThe sun may be the bane of basement-dwelling geeks everywhere, but Sole Mio doesn’t care. Designed for office workers who have regular access to sunlight (via windows, etc.), this environmentally friendly mouse is currently undergoing testing to see if it can charge itself during normal daily activities. The designers admit its success is likely dependant upon users adjusting their mouse-using habits to include plenty of downtime in the sun for the sake of saving a few precious watts. Cubicle monkeys, this is your ticket to a window seat (or maybe a giant skylight)… Continue Reading»
