Valve Please Gamers Again

Valve, the company behind clasic First Person Shooter Games has announced its proposed update to Steam – Its internet based application for delivering games to players world wide.

The update is music to gamers ears as it takes a users stats and stores them remotely, allowing people to goto any location, be it an internet cafe or a friends house and play with their own profile and settings.

Digital Rights Management (DRM) has been a vein of contention for many years now.  Apple for instance has recently bowed to public pressure and removed all DRM from its downloaded tracks.  Sony recently reviewed it’s DRM policy after receiving a huge amount of negative publicity when it released a new audio CD DRM system that covertly installed itself on your computer, then opened it up for any hacker with half a brain.

Singapore bans Xbox game

Singapore Bans XBox 360 GameSingapore has banned the sale of an Xbox video game that features an intimate scene between two female characters.The “Mass Effect” game, a futuristic space adventure, contains “a scene of lesbian intimacy… as such the game has been disallowed,” the deputy director of the Board of Film Censors said in the statement.

Under local guidelines, video games sold in Singapore cannot “feature exploitative or gratuitous sex and violence, or denigrate any race or religion,” the official said.

“Mass Effect” is to be launched globally next week.
