nintendo 3DS

If like me you loved the Nintendo DS, the DS lite, and the DSi XL, then the latest incarnation, the Nintendo 3DS should excite you so much your nuts will spin. The Nintendo 3DS literally allows you to play games in 3D, WITHOUT the need for 3D glasses. That’s right, non of those dorky glasses, you can actually use the Nintendo 3DS console out and about.

If you had to use 3D glasses you could pretty much guarantee that you would… Continue Reading»

IE9 to Support CSS3

For those of you who don’t know, CSS3 has been in development for some time and browsers such as Firefox, Chrome, and Safari have kept at the cutting edge of this technology for years. However Internet Explorer has refused to include any CSS3 compatibility in it’s last two releases,  much to the annoyance of the thousands of web developers who love to use the gradients and radial curves which CSS3 allows.

The Good news is that IE9 has finally been released as a BETA version, and it not only supports CSS3, but it has also had vast improvements made… Continue Reading»

A Bulgarian phone number has given a whole new meaning to the phrase ‘Dial M for Murder’ after it was suspended because all three of its users died within ten years.

The cursed number – 0888 888 888 – was first given to Vladmir Grashnov, the CEO of Mobitel, who died of cancer in 2001, although rumour has it that his cancer was linked to radiation poisoning by a business rival.

Next up on the cursed number’s list was Konstantin Dimitrov, a Bulgarian mafia boss who was allegedly shot down by a lone assassin hired by the Russian mafia… Continue Reading»

The Incredible Shrinking Mobile Phone

The original mobile phones cost around £2,000 in the money of the day,  today that would be worth around £6,000, They also weighed in at around 6 Kg, and had to be carried around in a shoulder bag. They were not much use for lengthy conversations either – talk time was one hour maximum, and often much less.

Back in those days much of the wireless technology was based on the use of valves (or as our American friends like to call them, tubes). Wonderful though they were (and still they are used to make the very best in… Continue Reading»

Real Lightsaber Hits the Shelves

Real Lightsabre

Real Lightsabre

I have to admit, it is not often that I get readily excited by Geeky things nowadays.  I hate to sound snotty, but one of the key things about any geeky gadget is that it has to be useful to an extend that can be considered nerdish.

Most of the major technological releases over the last few years have just seemed a little too useless to me.  I mean, coffetable Internet pads which cost twice as much as a laptop with… Continue Reading»
