9X Pull out all the stops for the 30 Screen Ergonomic Solution!

9x 30 monitor device

9X are one of the worlds top leaders in monitor design solutions, this was all but apparent as I stared up at this gigantic, and aparently ergonomic Beast that sat in their lobby.

From this picture you cannot actually grasp the sheer size of this technological gargantuan godsend.  I did not dare ask how much they charged for a 30 screen combined visual unit, and instead walked into the back of the store to see some of their other products (Whch can be viewed here).

After nearly half an hour… Continue Reading»

iDAB? Not Quite There Yet

iDABHere at GeekyWood we have reviews of the worst and the best gadgets, and this little technology snippet is unfortunately one of the worse.

The iDAB is advertised as a mini digital radio gadget that attaches to your iPod, technically giving your iPod DAB (Digital Radio) functionality.

In reality when we tested the iDAB unit it was not actually part of the iPod, it didn’t use the iPods screen, navigation buttons or even its headphone socket.

Instead it sat on the iPod and used it as an expensive battery, occasionally falling off to… Continue Reading»

Japanese Robots takes up traditional dance

hrp-2-dance-robot.jpgRobots tend to be clumsy, or at least that’s the image that we get. After all, robots that are as agile as Spiderman as portrayed by numerous science fiction shows are but figments of the imagination. Even one of the most famous autonomous robots, Honda’s Asimo, has problems getting around on its own as quickly and as efficiently when compared to a normal human. The Japanese aren’t about to give up just yet though, developing a dancing robot that could eventually replace human dancers on the stage, but not quite yet. These roboticists are making large… Continue Reading»

NES controller now controls cursor

nes-controller-mouse.jpg

What a change for the once-mighty NES controller, where it used to control Mario and Samus who saved their respective worlds, all the controller does now is control the cursor on your computer display (not to mention accelerating your path towards RSI due to its obviously unergonomic nature). This DIY project replaces the innards of a NES controller with that of an optical mouse, so you’ll have to invest a fair bit and have a decent amount of technical know-how before embarking upon this project. Definitely one of the fanboys.

PS3 Unreal Tournament 3 supporting keyboard, mouse

Before he retired from his position at Sony Computer Entertainment, Ken Kutaragi declared that the PlayStation 3 would have many PC-like functions. This week saw confirmation that owners of the console will also be able to play at least one shooter using PC gamers’ weapons of choice. In a post on his company’s official forums , Epic Games vice president Mark Rein revealed that both the PC and PlayStation 3 versions of Unreal Tournament 3 will have keyboard and mouse support. That’s a first for the Sony console, which does allow keyboard entry of… Continue Reading»

Sole Mio Concept Mouse Recharges via Sunlight

solemio.jpgThe sun may be the bane of basement-dwelling geeks everywhere, but Sole Mio doesn’t care. Designed for office workers who have regular access to sunlight (via windows, etc.), this environmentally friendly mouse is currently undergoing testing to see if it can charge itself during normal daily activities. The designers admit its success is likely dependant upon users adjusting their mouse-using habits to include plenty of downtime in the sun for the sake of saving a few precious watts. Cubicle monkeys, this is your ticket to a window seat (or maybe a giant skylight)… Continue Reading»
