It’s one of those facts of life, no sooner have you spent $300 on a brand new MP3 player or phone, than it drops to the floor, or gets a deep scratch on the screen. This leaves us on a constant search for the Best Phone Protection.

Currently your only options are a hard, ugly, plastic casing, or a thin cheap ‘sort’ screen protector. One is unweildy, the other only offers limited protection.

Fortunately those clever folks at Wrapsol have just released a brand new material called Wrapsol Ultra. The Wrapsol Ultra material actually came about by accident when they were looking for new adhesive materials, but soon turned it in to the best phone protection.

Despite the accidental discovery, Wrapsol Ultra has protected phones tested at 50 drops from 6 feet, and dragged along behind a truck at 35 miles per hour, and the phone survived both tests without a scratch.

This easily makes the Wrapsol Ultra the best phone protection on teh market by far, and hopefully we will see plenty more where that came from in the near future!

The video below shows how the best phone protection can help any mobile phone survive an extreme battering without suring any damage, and provides a clear view of your screen, with a surprising resistance to air bubbles!

If you are looking for the best phone protection, this is a pretty good investment, and could save you having to buy a new phone!

DSi XL Review

The DSi XL is the latest DS console to hit the market, and while it does provide a 93% bigger screen, some people are asking why Nintendo didn’t give us all just a little bit more.

But first off, the DSi XL is compatible with all DS Games and DSi Games. This means that it can play a huge number of games already, and on it’s larger screen size.

This stretched display of games can make many of them seem a little bit blocky and pixilated, however the DSi’s larger screen comes in extremely useful for text based DS Games.

Unfortunately beyond the larger screen, and larger DS case, the DSi XL really doesn’t bring much new to the table, except of course for an additional, larger, pen sized stylus.

It would have been nice if they had considered putting even a little extra storage or ram in here, but it all seems to be exactly the same. Of course the bigger screen has also cut down on the DSi XL’s portability, which is kind of a big downside for something that is meant to be a portable gaming console.

All in all the larger screen size is quite nice, however the extra cost, and lack of benefits make the buying decision a difficult one. If you have trouble viewing the DSi screen then this could be a good upgrade for you, otherwise, it might be worth waiting for the DSi XL2!

The Sony PSP Go has been on the lips of handheld addicts for several months now, today however we got our hands on review of the latest Sony Handheld Console.

First off, Sony revised their larger screen approach, dropping it’s widescreen size from 4.3 inches to 3.8 inches. This screen size change may make the device more portable, but some worry that it will affect it’s video viewing capability.

The new PSP is much smaller, and 43% lighter than it’s previous incantations. This makes the device much more portable, yet it holds a new inbuilt 16Gb of flash memory. If this is not enough for your portable pleasures then it also has a memory slot to extend your storage requirements.

While the controls of the PSP Go closely resemble that of the PSP standard, it may seem a little cramped for some people, infact the smaller form of the new PSP Go make it more awkward in many ways. In some ways it feels like the Sony PSP Go is not so much the next generation PSP, rather a competitor to the iPod touch, without the touch screen.

The PSP Go has all the previous wireless capability of the PSP, with inbuilt WiFi. on top of this though the PSP Go has bluetooth capability, for wireless headsets and the like. This does also however mean that you can hook the device up to a 3G enabled phone, or a PS3 controller. However how you would see the PSP Go screen while holding a PS3 controller is yet to be explained!

Sony have been developing new title for the PSP Go from many of its most popular brands, including Metal Gear Solid and Gran Turismo. These are showing some great promise, but if these fail to disappoint then you can get many titles over the PSP Download service (Via WiFi).

While the PSP Go has several interesting features, people do have some questions over why Sony have not integrated any telephony or even voip features to give it a chance to compete with the iPhone.

Despite the Amazon Kidle 2′s price still being on the hefty side, $359, the new device comes with some amazing features, at 25% thinner and 20% faster these two basic features alone are stunning, and with a massive 25% extra battery life you can go for 2 weeks without a recharge.

The screen has been improved as well, going from the 4 color gray scale to an impressive 16 shades of gray. This allows the user to customize the Kindle 2 much more effectively for easy reading!

Though the Amazon Kindle 2 is thinner, faster and all in all better that the original Kindle it still lacks a lot to be desired. Despite its 3G downloading giving you a book in less than 6 seconds many people are still unhappy about the restrictions placed by Amazon with DRM software. This is especially frustrating when you can get cheaper PDF and text document readers out there for a lower price and with no restrictions whatsoever,

While the Amazon Kindle 2 is a nice device, and they have addressed a lot of problems, making this a truely sweet device to use I cannot help but feel that they really need to relax the DRM and lower the price to somethign just a little more reasonable.

But this one may actually stand a chance. First things first though, the internet, one of the iPhones most endearing qualities is available in a html browser via 3g. Unlike the iPhone however the Blackberry Storm has no WiFi capability, a massive drawback for a device supposedly centered on the internet.

The next huge difference in the Blackberry Storm vs iPhone debate is the touch screen. I have to admit the storm wins hands down here. Blackberry are more than aware that the majority of its users like the keypads, it is what differentiates them from other phone manufacturers. So when blackberry moved to touch screen they needed something to make the technology yet again unique. I have to admit they excelled, Blackberry Storms touch screen actually requires you to press down on the screen for it to ‘click’, unlike the iPhone where numerous people complain about mis-spellings, accidental sending of messages and losing messages

Unfortunately for the Blackberry storm the vastly improved touch screen interfaces comes with a small drawback when compared to the iPhones more like ‘brush screen’ technology. When it comes to browsing the web I vastly prefer the iPhones smooth zooming, easy navigation and slick movement. On the Storm I found myself using zoom in and out buttons as well as struggling to navigate around the page effectively.

The Blackberrry Storm vs iPhone comparisson may be a close debate when it comes to the browser capabilities, but when it comes to music and storage suddenly things begin to look a whole lot better for Blackberry.

The Storm device comes with 1gb storage built in and upgradability to 16gb via flash. Ontop of that the Blackberry storm has removable and therefor replaceable batteries, great for both long journeys and replacement of failing power. This small but significant ability that is missing in most Apple products is a massive advantage for the Blackberry storm device in the battle between iPhone and Storm.

All in all the Blackberry Storm is a great device, whether or not it will live up to the name of iPhone Killer remains to be seen. Either way, both are high end luxury devices, so keep your eyes open to see who is victorious in the iPhone vs Storm Battle

Instinctiv – Smart Shuffle Application for the iPhone!

The iPod shuffle became a big hit, but what if you could shuffle 8 gig of tracks with a feature that learnt what you liked? The Instinctiv software for the iPhone randomly plays tracks like the iPod shuffle, but unlike the shuffle instinctiv learns what tracks you like and which you don’t, slowly filtering your music so it will play what you like the most more often. This smart shuffling is always switched on with my iPhone, guaranteeing that as soon as I press play I get tracks that I want to hear! This is so far the best Smart Shuffle Utility for the iPhone that I have found!

Polaroid, the company who once brought us the famous instant camera, were hit hard by the coming of the digital era. On July the 6th however they will fight back with a Pocket Sized Portable Inkless Printer called the PoGo. A hot new gadget that can print via bluetooth or USB, making it compatible with the majority of cell phones on the market.

So how have they made a printer so small and work without ink?

Quite simply the pocket sized photo printer doesnt really print, it simply heats up special paper (Costing around $0.35 each) with special small heating heads. This works quite cleverly to release colored dyes onto the paper.

The paper, while quite expensive is also sticky backed and fairly cheap compared to conventional printing. The sticky backed photo quality provided by the pogo portable pocket printer will not just be useful for many people but also open up a whole world of mischief, take a photo, print it out and then stick it on an unsuspecting colleagues back.

The Pogo Pocket Printer is going to hit the markets on July 6th and will cost around $149 on release. This still seems a little expensive for a printer that only prints wallet sized photos, so it may not take off as well as they hoped. Fortunately many people like novelty, including your writers at Geekywood, and one of these is definitely on the menu, after all if us gadget geeks didn’t buy something like this who would?!
