Ohhh big surprise, Microsoft just announced a price drop on the 360 lineup.
Retailers will knock $50 off the Premium systems (bringing it to $350), $30 off the Elite (down to $450), and $20 off the Core (bringing it to $280). Expect it to take effect this Wednesday, the 8th. Buy, buy, buy, people. Oh, let’s briefly review how many of Microsoft’s retail partners had a difficult time keeping Redmond’s big secret.

Electronic Arts announced on Friday that Tony Hawk killer Skate will ship to retail on September 12 for Xbox 360 and September 24 for PS3. EA will also release a demo to Xbox Live Marketplace on August 15.
The downloadable demo features game play tutorials and a single level introduction to the game’s “Flickit” controls where players use analog sticks to pull of combos in lieu of button mashing. Sure, you can already mouse around on your Linux-booting or web-browsing PS3 system to your heart’s content, but Epic wanted to level the FPS playing field just a bit, and is bringing keyboard and mouse support to its PS3 version of Unreal Tournament 3. Epic VP Mark Rein was concerned that having multiple control methods would give some players an unfair advantage, but apparently those problems have been worked out. Grand Theft Auto fans are going to have to wait a bit longer for the next installment.Take-Two Interactive announced Thursday that Grand Theft Auto IV would not be released Oct. 18 for Sony’s PlayStation 3 and Microsoft’s Xbox 360 video game systems, as originally planned. Instead, the game will arrive in spring of 2008, “due to additional development time required to complete the title,” the company said in a statement.
