Valve, the company behind clasic First Person Shooter Games has announced its proposed update to Steam – Its internet based application for delivering games to players world wide.

The update is music to gamers ears as it takes a users stats and stores them remotely, allowing people to goto any location, be it an internet cafe or a friends house and play with their own profile and settings.

AMD have today announced that they will be bringing out a standard for excellence on gaming machines.  Any machine that meets this standard will be allowed to display a sticker noting that it is either at gaming, or pro gaming level.

This seems to be a specific stab at Intel when they announced an integrated graphics/processor chip, something that could increase PC Performance but may damage competition.

Digital Rights Management (DRM) has been a vein of contention for many years now.  Apple for instance has recently bowed to public pressure and removed all DRM from its downloaded tracks.  Sony recently reviewed it’s DRM policy after receiving a huge amount of negative publicity when it released a new audio CD DRM system that covertly installed itself on your computer, then opened it up for any hacker with half a brain.

According to DBTechno, Sony Computer Entertainment America has announced that it will be shutting the PSP servers for some of its games on June 30th. As the reason comes out to be, they will be shut because of the lack of user activity on some games. The servers will be closed for PSP games, Lemmings and World Tour Soccer 2 and many other games should follow in the later part of this year. As the reports were coming that Toshiba Corp. is going to discontinue HD DVD technology, it seemed rather possible that it will be affecting the Microsoft XBox 360 Gaming console. But Microsoft in a statement yesterday, said that this is not expected to affect sales of its Xbox 360 game console.
