The Samsung Galaxy S2 – Best Smart Phone of 2011?

For a few months now I have been in the market for a new smart phone. For about a year now I have been using the Apple 3GS.  This phone is very functional, but boy is it slow.  So the time has come to get a new faster smart phone, and it looks like it is going to be the Samsung Galaxy S2.

This article is not going to be an in-depth review of the Galaxy S2, instead I am going to give a write up of exactly why I am going to buy this phone, when there is… Continue Reading»

Traveller-AR iPhone MMORPG

httpvh://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9C4wNgnrXTY

I don’t normally spend much time playing iPhone games, I use my iPhone much more for business than pelasure. However I was at SXSWi 2011 and stumbled across the Traveller-AR iPhone MMORPG. This amazing game is going to bring a true (WoW) style space MMORPG to the iPhone, which in itself is an amazing feat, however there is a lot more to this game than first meets the eye.

The first thing is Traveller-AR is based on the pen and paper roleplaying game from the 1970′s.  Since then it has had four decades… Continue Reading»

The Incredible Shrinking Mobile Phone

The original mobile phones cost around £2,000 in the money of the day,  today that would be worth around £6,000, They also weighed in at around 6 Kg, and had to be carried around in a shoulder bag. They were not much use for lengthy conversations either – talk time was one hour maximum, and often much less.

Back in those days much of the wireless technology was based on the use of valves (or as our American friends like to call them, tubes). Wonderful though they were (and still they are used to make the very best in… Continue Reading»

The iPhone 4G Leak

Engadget has released photos of an apparant 4G iPhone which was, apparently, left on the floor in a bar. While many people have viewed this as another fake, there is still a resonable chance that this is infact a test version of the Apple iPhone 4G, or even a publicity stunt by the company known for it’s markeing rather than it’s products.

At the moment this Gadget reviws blog cannot state whether the photos on engadget are real or faked, however as soon as Apple give us a response on the stolen iPhone 4G we… Continue Reading»

Apple iPhone Medical Application

Medical iPhone AppI Thought I had seen the end of impressive iPhone Apps, but this one took my breath away.

Let me reminice for a few seconds on an event which happened 5 years ago.  I was walking through the city of York with a friend when we came upon this girl who was having an asthma attack.  We called an ambulance, which said it would be five minutes.

In the meantime however we were stuck with a girl who could not breath and did not have an inhaler, what should we… Continue Reading»

Truphone – iPod Touch to iPhone Convertor?!

iPod Touch to Iphone Convertion AppMany iPod Touch users were more than just a little downhearted when the iPhone was released .  The iPhones similarities to the iPod Touch were noticable, but the 3g and GPS capabilities included on the iPhone  were a vast improvement for convenience and application.

Fortunately Truphones have come along with a sleek, handy iPod Touch app which utilizes the iPod Touch’s WiFi capability to at least some way convert the iPod Touch into an iPhone.  By using the iPod Touches WiFi Capability you can use… Continue Reading»

New Blackberry – The iPhone Clone?

Blackberry StormThe New Blackberry Storm has just been released and has been flagged as the first real iPhone killer (Like we haven’t heard that before!)

But this one may actually stand a chance.  First things first though, the internet, one of the iPhones most endearing qualities is available in a html browser via 3g. Unlike the iPhone  however the Blackberry Storm has no WiFi capability, a massive drawback for  a device supposedly centered on the internet.

The next huge difference in the Blackberry Storm vs iPhone debate is the touch screen.  I… Continue Reading»
