HTC Touch Diamond - The Real iPod Killer

HTC DiamondDespite my dislike of the Apple iPod when it was first released the iPod did have a fantastic interface and a sleek design. After Apple realised where the market was heading and moved into DRM free technology (The main reason I disliked the iPod) the iPod even began to appeal to me. Then the iPhone was released, another fantastic device.

Most devices plugged as iPod or iPhone killers tend to fail miserably, their interfaces are never as smooth or effective as they try to clone Apples design, they seem to… Continue Reading»

iDAB? Not Quite There Yet

iDABHere at GeekyWood we have reviews of the worst and the best gadgets, and this little technology snippet is unfortunately one of the worse.

The iDAB is advertised as a mini digital radio gadget that attaches to your iPod, technically giving your iPod DAB (Digital Radio) functionality.

In reality when we tested the iDAB unit it was not actually part of the iPod, it didn’t use the iPods screen, navigation buttons or even its headphone socket.

Instead it sat on the iPod and used it as an expensive battery, occasionally falling off to… Continue Reading»

iPod Touch Review

For the unknowing, Apple started shipping its new iPod Touch late last week. This is the new iPod that’s essentially the iPhone sans the phone; prices start at $300 for 8GB and go up to $400 for 16GB. While they’re usually sold out as quickly as they come in, I managed to grab one and made a nice little review, at least I hope it’s nice. I’ll be covering the design and structure of the device itself, the UI and applications, music playback, video playback, and the iTunes WiFI store.
