The New Nintendo DSi!

Nintendo DSi The New Nintendo DSI is the latest update to the amazingly addictive handheld device, the Nintendo DS.  Well you will be able to Buy DSi in the beginning of April, so you won’t be able to get your hands on one just yet, but the hot new Nintendo device is well worth the wait.

And when we say that we mean it, to separate the Nintendo DSi from its predecessors Nintendo have made the DSi thinner, faster, with a larger screen and better features, to top it off the Nintendo DSi comes packed with two cameras, one for taking video’s/pictures of yourself, or one facing the other way in case you want to take pictures or videos of other people!

The Nintendo DSi comes with some great advancements spec wise, in previous versions of the Nintendo DS users had to face constant lag and slow game play, now however the Nintendo DSi comes with an improved processor speed and 4 times the memory present in the Nintendo DS. This gives the Nintendo DSi a huge advantage of previous versions of this fantastic handheld console!

The Nintendo DSi Specs are

CPU : 133MHz ARM Processor

Memory: 16MB

Storage: 256MB Internal Flash Memory (With SD Card Slot Available)

Connectivity: Wireless 802.11

These specs may not seem much when compared to some of the more powerful handheld consoles out there, such as the latest version of the Sony PSP, but when you look at the pure range of games and pick up and play style of the Nintendo DSi you will quickly realise that the DSi is just that much more fun than the rather awkward PSP. It is this same pick up and play style that gave the Wii such a good name that is going to help propel the Nintendo DSi into the top of the handheld console rankings!

Not everything is for the better though. While the Nintendo DSI is now more rugged and reliable as well as becoming even more portable Nintendo have sacrificed the GBA cartridge slot, this has removed the backwards compatibility with GBA Cartridges!

Personally though I think the minor lack of backwards compatibility is a minor issue when you look a the overall improvements, Nintendo have even changed the power switch back to a power button on the DSi so you can do a quick reset to start a new game rather than doing a full reboot of the device as was required with the Nintendo DS. I would easily recommend and suggest you buy a DSi as soon as it becomes available in April 2009!
