New Blackberry – The iPhone Clone?

Blackberry StormThe New Blackberry Storm has just been released and has been flagged as the first real iPhone killer (Like we haven’t heard that before!)

But this one may actually stand a chance.  First things first though, the internet, one of the iPhones most endearing qualities is available in a html browser via 3g. Unlike the iPhone  however the Blackberry Storm has no WiFi capability, a massive drawback for  a device supposedly centered on the internet.

The next huge difference in the Blackberry Storm vs iPhone debate is the touch screen.  I have to admit the storm wins hands down here.  Blackberry are more than aware that the majority of its users like the keypads, it is what differentiates them from other phone manufacturers.  So when blackberry moved to touch screen they needed something to make the technology yet again unique.  I have to admit they excelled, Blackberry Storms touch screen actually requires you to press down on the screen for it to ‘click’, unlike the iPhone where numerous people complain about mis-spellings, accidental sending of messages and losing messages

Unfortunately for the Blackberry storm the vastly improved touch screen interfaces comes with a small drawback when compared to the iPhones more like ‘brush screen’ technology. When it comes to browsing the web I vastly prefer the iPhones smooth zooming, easy navigation and slick movement.  On the Storm I found myself using zoom in and out buttons as well as struggling to navigate around the page effectively.

The Blackberrry Storm vs iPhone comparisson may be a close debate when it comes to the browser capabilities, but when it comes to music and storage suddenly things begin to look a whole lot better for Blackberry.

The Storm device comes with 1gb storage built in and upgradability to 16gb via flash.  Ontop of that the Blackberry storm has removable and therefor replaceable batteries, great for both long journeys and replacement of failing power.  This small but significant ability that is missing in most Apple products is a massive advantage for the Blackberry storm device in the battle between iPhone and Storm.

All in all the Blackberry Storm is a great device, whether or not it will live up to the name of iPhone Killer remains to be seen.  Either way, both are high end luxury devices, so keep your eyes open to see who is victorious in the iPhone vs Storm Battle
