iDAB? Not Quite There Yet
Here at GeekyWood we have reviews of the worst and the best gadgets, and this little technology snippet is unfortunately one of the worse.
The iDAB is advertised as a mini digital radio gadget that attaches to your iPod, technically giving your iPod DAB (Digital Radio) functionality.
In reality when we tested the iDAB unit it was not actually part of the iPod, it didn’t use the iPods screen, navigation buttons or even its headphone socket.
Instead it sat on the iPod and used it as an expensive battery, occasionally falling off to my annoyance. on top of that switching it on is a royal pain, you have to get the iPod to play to itself , while keeping the iDab attached to the iPod itself.
The iDAB unit itself has a poorly designed, fairly old fashioned screen. The buttons are placed in awkward locations and the menu interface is unintuitive and annoying.
I have to admit I am a fan of digital radio, but this unit is a poor show of what could be a fantastic product.
